Eco-Friendly Fashion Choices

I learned to sew in college and began by making clothes for myself and later for my children. As life got busy, the sewing machine was set aside. I went back to work as a Middle School Math teacher and loved every moment of it.
After retiring, I spent time visiting my children and grandchildren, who had moved to other states. Then COVID hit, and visiting was no longer possible. I found myself drawn back to my sewing machine. Making clothes for my grandchildren was fun, but they outgrew everything so quickly!
Having four sisters, I wanted to create something fashionable and useful for all of us, and what better than a handbag? When choosing fabrics, I faced a challenge. Though not technically vegan, I care deeply about the environment and refuse to use leather. That’s when I discovered cork. It’s perfect: sustainable, strong, soft, and water-resistant!
After sending several bags to every woman in my family and receiving requests from neighbors and friends, a business was born. My basement transformed into a workshop where I spend my days choosing colors, fabrics, and styles and putting my sewing machines to good use.
Most of the time, my German Shepherd keeps me company (and reminds me to take breaks!). I truly enjoy this journey I’m on and hope you love what I’ve created as much as I love making it.
